Reliant Logistics was organized and incorporated in May 2000, as a non-asset-based third party to serve customers who needed comprehensive, cost-effective air charter management and logistics services. Shortly thereafter, we formed partnerships with major freight forwarders and airfreight forwarders. We continue to serve those companies.

Our Headquarters office is located three miles south of the historic Willow Run Airport (YIP) in Ypsilanti, MI. This allows us to be on-hand planeside to oversee and coordinate charters. Our geographical location in southeast Michigan created a natural opportunity for us and we immediately became a supplier to the automotive industry.

The summer of 2001 presented another opportunity for us to take advantage of our experience and expertise in the on-demand charter industry. We were approved for direct participation in the charter management program of one of the “Big Three” U.S. auto manufacturers. We went online with that manufacturer in late summer of 2001.

In 2002 we successfully bid on the movement of assembly line robots from the U.S. to Venezuela. Awarded the contract we flew a flawless charter during March 2002, utilizing a Boeing 747-200F for the flight. 

A very important event in the growth and development of Reliant occurred August 1, 2002 - the date of our acquisition by Empire Airlines, an FAA Part 121/135 air carrier headquartered at the Coeur d’Alene Airport (COE) in Hayden, Idaho. The support provided by Empire to Reliant has solidified our reputation and credibility in the marketplace.

We not only fly parts and robots, we also provide aircraft for Hollywood movies and executive travel. The aircraft we have chartered for other customers are as small as a Cessna 310 and as large as the Boeing 747-200F.

During late September 2004, we were the charter manager on the movement of two live orangutans to their new, permanent home at The Great Ape Trust in Des Moines, Iowa. The charter went smoothly and the orangutans arrived alert and safe.
